As watched by many of you and millions of people around the world, the recent US Masters was a great example of why golf is such a unique game. After 72 holes, tied at the top were two players, one with a text book swing and one who had never had a lesson in his life, but both had one thing in common. PING CLUBS!!!! And it hasn’t stopped there – players using Ping drivers and irons have also won the World Accenture Matchplay, Houston Open, Malaysian Open, Indonesian Open and Singapore Ladies Open in just the last couple of months. The Ping G20 model driver, as used by Masters Champion Bubba Watson, has been a huge success. One thing I really like about the Ping driver is that it hasn’t changed radically over the past 8 years, yet it is still a proven leader in performance. World number three Lee Westwood is still using and winning with the G10 driver which is four years old!!! Another thing I like about the Ping G20 model driver and irons is the price – once at the top of the tree for price, G20 now retails at $380 for the current driver and from $125 per iron (steel shaft) for custom fitted irons.

WHAT IS METAL X?
Odyssey, who have been the leaders in designing soft insert putters, have released their new range – Metal X. The Metal X range has an aluminium insert which creates friction upon contact with the ball. This keeps the ball on the putter face a fraction longer, giving a soft feel and consistent roll, which is the key to having good distance control with your putting. There are 6 different models available and all will be available to try at our
Odyssey Putter Day – Thursday May 24th from 10am til 12pm.
SHAVE SHOTS WITH THE RAZR
Callaway’s RAZR X driver has worked well for many people Brett, Corey and I have fitted up recently. The new RAZR FIT driver is even better – with adjustable weights and a face angle which can be set Open, Square or Closed. This driver is being used on the US and European Tour with success. If you have ever doubted the worth of having adjustability in a driver, you have to try one of these drivers, especially with one of our fitting experts to help you. We will be on hand to help on the driving range on FRIDAY MAY 18 FROM 1PM TO 5PM for the CALLAWAY RAZR FIT DEMO DAY.

NICE CHIPS WITH THESE WEDGES
Cleveland’s 588 Wedge series is the officially the best selling wedge in history. The latest version comes in soft forged steel. This gives optimum feel while the laser milled grooves impart plenty of spin on the ball. Add to that a new shaft designed to produce a lower flight and you have a wedge that will give you more control. These wedges come in three finishes and there are a huge variety of lofts and bounces available.

To find what wedges would best suit your game, come to the CLEVELAND DEMO DAY, FRIDAY MAY 18 FROM 1PM TIL 5PM. To learn more about bounce, read on.
GET YOUR BOUNCE BACK
When talking about wedges, especially sand and lob wedges, we always mention bounce but rarely does anybody explain what it is and how it works. When you look at the bottom or sole of a wedge, you may notice the back of the sole looks raised up compared to the front edge of the club. This is the bounce of the wedge, the higher the degree of bounce, the higher the rise on the sole. Most people tend to lean towards a low bounce wedge because when you put such a club down on the shop floor, the leading edge sits flush on the ground. But how many times do you get a lie that is as hard as the shop floor???
Bounce is designed to help you get optimum contact on the ball with your wedges and they come in a range of bounces because golfer’s have different swings and turf conditions vary dramatically. If you have a steep swing with your wedge, you need more bounce otherwise the leading edge digs into the turf and you will catch the shot heavy. Also, a course with fluffy lies around the greens and soft sand in the bunkers would be better played with wedges with more bounce.
